Japan Cat Network helps people to help stray and abandoned pets throughout Japan. The organization and members of the network provide assistance with rescue, rehoming, population control, connection to resources, problem solving, and limited sheltering. JCN responded immediately to the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan, organizing on site teams which assisted evacuees with pet concerns and rescued over 600 animals from evacuated areas. Regular weekly feeding missions provided food for hundreds more until they could be safely rescued. JCN continues to run a small shelter in Inawashiro, Fukushima, as well as a volunteer and fund raising program in Kyoto.
